The first and foremost goal, in terms of the construction works of the Italy Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, has been reached. Indeed, the building has been completed and stands tall at 27 metres in height, due to the installation of the 165 vertical pillars and the roof “waves”: 30 calendered steel beams, of very high engineering complexity and each over 70 metres long, have been positioned on-site and are getting ready to host the largest flag ever made.

The next step will in fact be the installation of the three overturned hulls that will make up the roof, to allow for subsequent finishing operations.

On the ground floor, destined to welcome visitors featuring a reception and representation space as well as a cafeteria, conference room and services, works continue with the installation of technological systems and construction of internal partitions.

The Pavilion’s façade, made up entirely of over 60 km of nautical ropes made up from 100% recycled plastic, is being produced in Italy and the first materials have already arrived in Dubai to be installed in the coming months to then complete the building’s outer shell.

The installation of interior fittings, which directly involve some of the best Italian companies, will also begin in 2021.
