The first week of Expo 2020 Dubai, in October 2021, will be dedicated to space exploration and its multiple repercussions on our lives.
In a preview of the initiatives that will be held in twelve months’ time in many of the 190 national pavilions and in the thematic pavilions, Expo Dubai dedicates an important two-day virtual event to these same topics.
The “Pre-Expo Space Week”, which will be held on Monday and Tuesday, will also be attended by Italian representatives, including Riccardo Fraccaro, the Undersecretary of State for the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Paolo Glisenti, Commissioner General for Italy at Expo Dubai, Giuseppe Sala, Director of the Science and Technology Department of the Polytechnic University of Milan, Maria Cristina De Sanctis of the Italian National Astrophysics Institute (INAF) and Lorenzo Ghettini, student of the Polytechnic University of Milan and member of the Peer Mentoring programme of the Italy Pavilion at Expo Dubai. Their contributions will feature in Tuesday’s calendar, accompanied by a video made by Leonardo showing three installations that the visitors will find inside the Italy Pavilion at the Universal Exhibition: the space bore, the atomic clock and the convertiplane.
The Commissioner’s Office for Italy’s participation in Expo Dubai also dedicated to these topics an important video forum made with ANSA, entitled “The Future of Earth Lies in Space”, in the context of the three days of events and initiatives for the “One Year To Go!” celebrations. In the video, the astronaut Luca Parmitano speaks about international cooperation in this field, including that with the United Arab Emirates, the hosts of the Universal Exhibition.
