Expo 2020 Dubai drives the internationalisation of Italian universities

During the three days of celebrations for “One Year to Go”, the year remaining to Expo 2020 Dubai, in the context of the Sustainable Development Festival, the “Unisustainathon: Sustainability as an opportunity” event will take place: a unique hackathon among its kind, which will be held from 3rd to 5th October.
Stemming from the collaboration between the Commissioner’s Office for Italy’s participation in the Universal Exhibition, the Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development (ASviS) and the University Network for Sustainable Development (RUS), its goal is to summon all smart youths from around the globe to propose ideas, thoughts, collaborations and good practices regarding sustainability in the university field in Italy and in the rest of the world.

During a virtual marathon lasting 3 days, over 450 Italian and international students from 41 Italian universities and 18 foreign universities will put their heads together in order to come up with sustainability and resilience solutions for university campuses, with a particular focus on the themes of the Universal Exhibition in Dubai.
The aim of the hackathon is to promote the creation of projects and good practises that will generate shared value within 4 thematic areas: #Awareness, #Spaces, #Inclusion, #Community. Creativity as a multidisciplinary and multisectoral quality will be particularly rewarded as it is a central theme of Italy’s participation at Dubai. This event will be a real hub for youngsters, promoting the exchange of information, team-working and creativity as prime factors for tackling global challenges.
