Our heartfelt thanks for the “support and understanding” expressed by the vote in favour of the request to postpone the Expo and an invitation to focus on the adjustment path that awaits all those involved from now onwards until October 2021.
These were the main takeaways from the message that Reem Al Hashimy, Minister for International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates and Director General of Expo 2020 Dubai, sent in her address to the participating nations after it became officially known that the Universal Exhibition would be pushed back to next year.
“Now we will focus on the work at hand, inspired and fortified by the trust you have placed in us. Not only will we not betray your trust, we will exceed your expectations when Expo throws its doors open next year”.
Expo’s Director General highlighted that “for Expo and all participating nations, the immediate priority is the health and safety of the workers on our site”. With the ongoing assistance of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) “we continue to implement all recommended measures in order to protect the health of workers and we are amending procedures to adapt to the latest developments”.
