Giuseppe Sala – Director of the Department of Aerospace Science and Technologies at the Polytechnic University of Milan
“The PoliMask project reveals the power of transversal and synergistic cooperation between different fields of engineering research and experimentation. Six laboratories are active in the fluid dynamics, chemistry and materials science sectors – all geared towards verifying the efficiency of devices for preventing contagion from coronavirus”. This is how Giuseppe Sala explains the efforts of the Polytechnic University of Milan, engaged in creating a local (regional and national) production chain for FFP2 and FFP3 face masks for medical use, protective coats for health operators, goggles and other protective devices. A transversal and interdisciplinary approach characterises the university’s presence in the Italy Pavilion at Expo Dubai: “This interaction is also in the best spirit of the Expo as it allows for sharing different experiences, diverse skills coming from various contexts and different geographic regions”.
