STOP MED WASTE
Reducing or combating food wastage in the Mediterranean by extending the conservation of perishable foodstuffs. This is the goal of the project coordinated by Italy jointly with the Polytechnic University of the Marches, together with four other Euro-Mediterranean countries: Cyprus, Spain, Tunisia and Turkey. A goal, this, which can be attained through the use of technologies having a low environmental impact. In particular, they will be based on the use of physical and biological means, as well as natural substances with an anti-microbial and eliciting effect. Thanks to the aid of new technologies applied to agriculture, the effects on the quality of fruits, post-harvesting diseases and pathogenic agents present in foodstuffs will be monitored up to their shelf life, to define their impact on food wastage.
