Technological innovation for a sustainable future; the link between businesses and universities and the research sector; planning through calls for competition and international projects. These are the key themes Italy will bring to the Universal Exhibition in Dubai, towards which the Lazio Regional Authority is working together with academia and research centres in order to help showcase Italy’s excellences to the rest of the world.
This commitment was reaffirmed during the “Towards Expo 2020 Dubai” event, promoted by the Lazio Regional Authority in collaboration with the Regional Committee for the Coordination of Universities in Lazio (CRUL). The event, held in the Lecture Hall of La Sapienza University of Rome, was attended, among others, by lecturers and rectors of the region’s universities, who presented numerous projects in a wide range of fields: aerospace engineering, as in the case of Tor Vergata University, integrated systems for green economy, highlighted by Roma Tre University, electric mobility and cultural heritage for protecting the artistic and architectural heritage against growing anthropisation, presented by the University of Cassino and the University of Tuscia, and sustainable and innovative technologies for the development and enhancement of the agri-food system, by the National Research Council (CNR).
There were speeches also by Quirino Briganti, Head of the Lazio Regional Authority for Expo 2020 Dubai, Claudio Di Berardino, the Lazio Regional Authority’s Councillor for Education, Schools and the Right to Education, and Paolo Orneli, the Chairman of Lazio Innova S.p.A.
The sessions were closed by the Italian Commissioner for Italy at Expo 2020 Dubai, Paolo Glisenti, who underlined how the “Lazio model” reveals a significant capacity for innovation stemming from the links between different fields of expertise and production chains.
