The Expo in Dubai will afford a valuable opportunity to pursue tangible results, in line with the goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda: this was how Paolo Glisenti, the Commissioner of Section for Italy at the Universal Exhibition, viewed the issue during his speech at the 9th Italy-Latin America and Caribbean Conference.
At Expo 2020, Italy will bring an important contribution towards sustainable growth through a series of meetings, installations, workshops and international conferences with the main subjects involved on this front, explained Glisenti during his speech at event which gathers the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of 38 Latin American and Caribbean countries in Rome every two years.
The organisers of the conference in Rome expect to adopt a statement of intent for the promotion of a circular and eco-sustainable city model alongside concrete training activities for the prevention of corruption, which creates a considerable economic burden especially in the public tender sector.
Glisenti explained that, at the Expo, Italy will place special emphasis on what the business world can do in terms of sustainability and will promote a debate on this topic that will not be self-referential but “collaborative and open” to the experiences of all countries, including Latin American and Caribbean countries.
