Sustainability and access to water resources will be the core topics of Italy’s participation at Expo 2020 Dubai. These topics, which constitute a decisive stage for global rights in international law, will be developed in collaboration with the National Bar Council and the Italian Commissioner’s Office for Expo Dubai. The announcement was made this morning at the presence of Italy’s Minister of Justice, Alfonso Bonafede.
“The Ministry of Justice cannot be but proud and offer its support, as an excellence, for the participation of the National Bar Council and thus of our legal professionals at Expo Dubai 2020. We strongly support the initiative in the light of the fact that it will be the NBC to tackle – in a global legal perspective – the issue of everyone’s right to water and thus the establishment of a legal framework capable of positively solving the current emergencies shared by many peoples around the world,” commented the Minister during the meeting with the NBC.
“Expo 2020 Dubai will offer the opportunity to develop and promote a global legal culture on environmental protection,” explained Paolo Glisenti, the General Commissioner of Section for Italy’s participation at Expo 2020 Dubai, “geared towards promoting legislation that acknowledges the right to water and nature as a legal person, and for strengthening the harmonisation and evolution of international environmental law, in particular among the different legal systems of the countries surrounding the Mediterranean.”
The shared work includes the organisation of an international forum entitled, “A new environmental legislation”, which will constitute a multi-stakeholder platform dedicated to the new environmental rights and the management of water resources, in which countries from all continents will participate.
