Italy brings “Cyber Week” to Expo 2020 Dubai. The Commissioner’s Office will be encouraging a broad and structured dialogue between public opinion and institutions regarding the potential and the challenges of cyber security in view of next year’s Universal Exhibition.
With around two thousand companies and 23,000 employees working in the sector, Italy “has the numbers and the attributes” to play a central role in global discussion regarding this topic, according to Vincenzo De Luca, director general for the promotion of the national economic system, who attended a meeting held by the Expo Commissioner’s Office at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The event, opened by Laura Carpini, the new cyber security coordinator for the directorate general of the political arm of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, included talks by various experts and representatives from institutions and companies, as well as the new Italian Ambassador to Abu Dhabi Nicola Lener.
“The content and characteristics of the national cyber security system will be central to the ‘account’ Italy will be presenting to the world for the duration of the event”, Expo 2020 General Commissioner Paolo Glisenti stressed, echoing the close links between this topic and the field of training and digital skills. This is precisely why many Italian universities and research centres operating in the sector will be attending Expo 2020 through our Pavilion.
The themes linked to technological security and innovation will therefore be an integral part of the Italian offering at a Universal Exhibition for the first time and will be the focus of Cyber Security Week, following the significant strides forward to be made throughout the coming months with seminars and conferences in Italy and overseas.
Visitors, investors and representatives from start-ups and established companies in the sector can discuss the opportunities and challenges of the future at a “cyber corner” inside the pavilion, which promises to be a point of reference for a great number of countries that have invested in this major field.
