Italian creative flair will create a stage design for Expo 2020 Dubai to accommodate, for each event, up to 80 actors in front of 4,000 standing and 2,500 seated spectators.
Over the six months of the Expo, the amphitheatre will host 50 Italian-organised theatrical, artistic and musical events, plus hundreds of performances and shows for thousands of visitors and artists from around the globe, transposing the theme of 2020 Dubai – “Connecting minds, Creating the Future” – into a prestigious work and upholding the Italian claim, “Beauty connects people”.
The “Al Forsan” Amphitheatre, with its stage designed by the Gnosis Progetti architectural studio in partnership with architect Sergio Pone, will be constructed in the public park at the Expo 2020 Dubai site in front of the Italy, India, Germany, United States, Japan and Saudi Arabia pavilions. It will help to put Italy’s mark on one of the most popular venues within the exhibition site, at the exit of the United Arab Emirates national pavilion, between the Sustainability and Opportunity districts.
The contest was open to architects, designers, stage designers and Italian designers and was launched by Invitalia on behalf of the Italy General Commissioner’s Office for Expo 2020 Dubai.
