The Doctorate and Businesses Workshop organised by the Doctorate School of the University of Milan-Bicocca was attended by numerous companies and by many youths interested in the opportunities discussed by companies such as Intesa San Paolo, Siemens, Leonardo and Rottapharm Biotech.
During the second part of the workshop day, dedicated to the most innovative approaches offered by the international networks, the Assistant Commissioner for Expo Dubai 2020, Italy section, Marcello Fondi, illustrated the state of the art of Italy’s participation in the event, underlining the opportunities offered by a continuously expanding market and by an event in which Italy’s presence will be a hub for shared knowledge, where skills can develop amid a creative and multidisciplinary context.
The importance of investing in industrial doctorates was also highlighted during the event. In just three years, the University of Milan-Bicocca has started 136 industrial doctorates, confirming the strategic role of research for companies.
These doctorates consist in advanced apprenticeship training and project-based grants, in the form of three-year part-time courses blending academic and work activities.
The possibility that universities have of activating doctorates in conjunction with companies that conduct research is offered by (Italian) Ministerial Decree 45/2013, which offers multiple doctorate solutions.
