The area in which Expo 2020 Dubai is to be held is rapidly taking shape. Last month, organisers confirmed that they will soon be evaluating the tenders for the construction of parks and other projects in the zone earmarked to host the mega-event, which covers an area of 4.3 square kilometres.
The Expo will also welcome companies, NGOs and educational institutions. The three themed districts of Expo 2020 – Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability – will accommodate the stands of various countries, NGOs and commercial partners. Work on the outer shell of the three themed pavilions has already begun and will be completed by the end of the year. The Sustainability pavilion, which is aiming to be self-sufficient in its water and energy requirements, should be completed in October 2019. Italy will be located in the Opportunity pavilion.
