Since the era of the “Great Exhibition of the Works of Industry of All Nations” in London (1851), which came about thanks to the ingenuity of Prince Albert, consort to Queen Victoria, the mission of EXPO has been to house the very finest examples of the arts, science and technology in a single place.
From the first event in London to EXPO Milano 2015, all 75+ EXPOs have made celebrating innovation, design, industry, art and contemporary culture their primary objective, combining the ideas and designs that represent the Expo legacy and making an essential contribution to the international science and culture community.
The sewing machine (Paris 1855), the telephone (Philadelphia 1876), the Eiffel Tower (Paris 1889), the diesel engine (Paris 1900), the colour television (New York 1964) and the mobile telephone (Osaka 1978), right up to the great global development challenges illustrated by the editions which have taken place in the Third millennium are just a few of the scientific innovations presented to the international community as part of the Expo hotbed of ideas. Following the path of this long heritage, Expo 2020 Dubai will be an ideal global platform for innovation and partnership, an engine driving the creative energy and sustainable development of a legacy on the theme of mobility (innovative logistics, transport and communication systems) and the accessibility, resilience and sustainability of resources (environment, energy and water). It will also promote innovative tools for the smart sharing of content and creative experiences, honing skills and disseminating cultural and scientific projects.
